More Negative glazing

Better late than never!
Too much going on to get my PPF posted.
That and I really didn't like the results...HOWEVER we are not supposed
to be our own critic...right?

This one started with a tree on white paper and I glazed it with Antwerp blue.
I added some more trees and glazed it with that wonderful green you get with
Antwerp blue and burnt sienna.
At this point I added more trees.
Then I filled in all of the background spaces (tedious work) with a stronger mix of
Antwerp blue.
So, happy Paint Party Friday on Saturday!

Challenge #107-Quandry

Quandry

First of all I must thank Ellen Wolters for her wonderful video.
Once I saw that, "quandry" made a lot more sense to me.
And once it made sense, like "tripoli" it was fun to do.
So, thank you Laura for a fun challenge,
and thank you Maria and Rick for inventing it!
Sometimes it "takes a village" for a challenge response  to occur.
Thank you all!

Liebster Award

A Blog  Award

Hwee from My Art Journey kindly gave me a blog award that's about discovering new blogs.

Thank you so much for thinking of me, I feel honoured to be included in your five choices.

ABOUT THE AWARD

This award was designed to be a blog award in the pay it forward fashion. Once you've been nominated, you award it to five blogs that you like that have fewer than 200 followers, to encourage new visitors to visit these blogs.

RULES FOR ACCEPTANCE

Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Post the award onto your blog. Give the award to five bloggers who you appreciate that have fewer than 200 followers. Leave a comment on their blog letting them know that you have given them this awesome award!

PAY IT FORWARD

There are so many bloggers who have inspired and helped me to date and to find just five was very hard.     Here are my five choices of blogs ( in no particular order, as I love them all), with less than 200 followers.

  1. Penstrokes by Cathy
  2. Lost and Found
  3. Apple-Pine
  4. Elaine Magliacane Journal
  5. Art-It Does a Body Good
These are all wonderful artists and it would be wonderful if you could pay them a visit and maybe even become followers.

Negative watercolor

Couldn't resist the warm colors even though I had Connecticut
on my mind.
This was an exercise in negative painting with a limited palette.
I enjoyed it enough to try it again.
Happy PPF!

As an aside, we had quite a wind storm in SW Florida last night.
This morning I fished a favorite cattleya from the bottom of our pool.
I have no idea whether or not it will make it.
If it does, I am sure we have killed any bugs it might have had!
In the meantime, I have pulled it out of the pot, cleaned and trimmed
the roots and it is lying naked on the garage floor.
New pot tomorrow.

Year of the Snake

This weeks challenge honors the Chinese New Year,
the year of the snake.

Here in Florida we started the year out with a Python hunt in our Everglades.
The hunt ended on Feb. 1, I believe and as of the latest toll,
fifty Pythons were rounded up.

I am definitely not a fan of snakes but found some tangles that surely worked
for these slithery reptiles.
Once again, I called on Livia Chua's tangles, 'reticulated' and and 'twistee', did a variation of Andrea Shuman's 'snaylz trayl' and some crescents and I was good to go.

Challenge 105, Dansk

Busy, busy week this week.  The Letter Love 201 classes started so I have more than my share of doodling to do.  I didn't want to miss another week with the Diva so decided to use my calendar.  I thought the contrast between the two tangles was interesting.

This week Laura, the Diva is giving away one of Carol Ohl's calendars on her site.  This entry is from my second calendar.  They are great fun to do but let me tell you...when they are done, they are amazing.  You don't see the mess ups, you just see an amazing collection of tangles.  So click on the button on the right and enter to win!

Letter Love 201

I am having such fun with Joanne Sharpe's Letter Love 201.  Her ideas are so inspiring and I love the way she uses color.  My colors are still a bit to conservative (like their owner perhaps?) so look forward to stepping out a bit.  In the meantime, there is nothing more fun than to make art with your own handwriting.
