Joanne Fan

I am a Joanne Sharpe fan.
I have taken her on line classes since her first (I think) Letter Love.
I even got to take a couple of classes from her in person when she came to
Whim So Doodle in St Petersburg, FL.
So when she started her on line classes in January, Draw your Awesome Year, I was all in.
Because I am working, I am not quite up with the group but I am plodding
along, doing my own thing and once again, enjoying it immensely.
My word of the year...yet again
Here's a sampling
To begin...

Joanne is such a great teacher and these classes are on your computer for forever.
Her themes are POSITIVE and just a great cure for a grey day.
Grey day???  We haven't had any of those lately, have we?
We can make our own sunny day.
Happy PPF!

Blind String Challenge

Hello friends!  Thanks for visiting!
This week our challenge was to shut our eyes (and lose control)
and draw our string.
There is a string in here but I decided to fill in my negative space
for a change.
It definitely gives a different look.
What do you think?
Want to see more?

On a completely different subject (Scattered IS the name of this blog)
I took a couple of Joanne Sharpe classes this past weekend.
What fun!!!  And the classes were jam packed with ideas.
It was also weird (and nice) to finally get to meet some "faces" I had seen on line.
If Joanne is in your city, or even if she isn't, some gals drove four hours to come
to these classes, don't miss her.  She is an amazing teacher and a fun person to be around.

Word Art Therapy

Happy Paint Party Friday

Since the first of the year, I have really focused on word art (along with the random watercolors I have shared) as a form of personal therapy...sort of.  The fact that I was taking Joanne Sharpe's Letter Love 201 facilitated this for sure.

We received some wonderful news at the very end of the year from a young woman living in western Canada.  She is my husband's daughter from a highschool relationship.  He had shared with me that his former girlfriend had gotten pregnant and moved "out east" to have the baby when we were dating.  He never heard another word and because of legal issues, never pursued the information.  This young woman had received information on her father (my husband) in 1996 and  didn't follow up on it until now.  She sent a short note introducing herself and asking if by chance he was her father.  He was only too happy to respond.

My husband and I have been married for 48 years and have three grown children and nine grandchildren.  Needless to say, this has "rocked" our family.  We have spoken of this "child" through the years but figured we would probably never meet him or her at this late date.   After all, the "child" would be fifty years old.  You can imagine our surprise!

He shared the information with our three children.  One was delighted, two were not.

He has had a running email conversation with his daughter since the first of the year and they have spoken on the phone a couple of times.  I think it has been very rewarding for both of them  She and her husband will be coming down to Florida in March for a conference so we will meet at that time.  They will spend the weekend with us.

Imagine the anticipation!  And so I doodle, to keep it all together.  Many emotions have rocked this old bod, that is for sure.  Everything happens for a reason and I look forward to our next chapter.

I believe that there are others that have had  similar experiences .  I've googled "bio dad" but haven't really come up with much.  I guess these stories are pretty personal, but I have shared and I hope you will too.

Is it a reunion when you have never met?

There will be a lot to share in a short weekend
She is a gift to our family

We must enjoy the present moment.
"Anticipation" was too long a word to fit on the page.
There is plenty to go around
Joanne Sharpe's "word art"

In fact, it is his journey, I am only a bystander.

I think the Letter Love class came along at just the right moment, don't you?
Please feel free to share your thoughts!

Letter Love 201

I am having such fun with Joanne Sharpe's Letter Love 201.  Her ideas are so inspiring and I love the way she uses color.  My colors are still a bit to conservative (like their owner perhaps?) so look forward to stepping out a bit.  In the meantime, there is nothing more fun than to make art with your own handwriting.

Harley "love"

Meet Harley
Some of you may remember that in an afternoon of insanity about a year ago,
we drove fifty miles to "look" at a puppy.
We have been his captives ever since, along with his collection of ten stuffed animals.
Each of his animals has a simple name and he knows them all
and can retrieve the appropriate toy when asked.

I have been enjoying Joanne Sharpe's Letter Love 101 class and decided to visually record
the lives of his toys.
Hope your enjoy!  Happy PPF
