Rework

Who knew dogs had allergies?

This spring has been a rough one for people with allergies but little did we know that

when Harley started chewing on his paws, constantly, that would be the diagnosis.

So instead of playing with paints, this week we have been soaking the paws in Betadine and then 

epsom salts, feeding him antibiotic, prednisone and two antihistamines.  Full time job for sure.

But the worst of it is that he has had to wear the "cone of shame".

However, he has made the best of it.  His Bichon positive attitude shines through and those 

paws are improving, slowly.

So with little paint time, I grabbed an  old painting and reworked it, using geometric stencils

that I used a couple of years ago.

This is the result.

And that is my excuse for not throwing my not so favorite art away,  I love pulling

the pieces out and redoing them.  How about you?

I am not in love with this one, it may get another rework, next year.

A tangled name

It has been a while, quite a while actually since I last posted.

I was working full time and pursuing mixed media through our local art center.

Retirement has arrive for the third time (the charm I hope) and I have more time on my hands.

I have missed the relaxing time spent tangling so went hunting for our Diva, and

There she was...right where I had left her.

Nice to be back Laura!

Artful play

The class I have been taking at our Art Center has been very intense and it has created in me a new critical eye (that I really don't needl, I am critical enough).  So other than assignments, I have really done nothing that pleased me.  I found this idea in a grammar school art book.  I used a failed

painting as the backdrop and decided that inspite of myself, this was a 'happy little ditty'.

This is the sort of thing we are doing as homework after a class in light study on color.
I have pages and pages of notes from this class and am completely worn out when I get home from too much thinking.

This is some fun on yupo.  Am not sure where this will go next.  I like the colors  in the background.
I forgot to put matt medium on so the color leaked into the white paint I was using.

Somewhere on You Tube I saw something about using scrunched up aluminum foil so I decided to try it.  It is VERY fragile after it is scrunched up a lot.  This was done on a collage background.

On a simple abstract design, I think the printing underneath adds interest.

Paint Party Friday is 7 today!

Congrats to Kristin and Eva

and a big thank you for hosting Paint Party Friday for all these years.

I have been missing these past couple of weeks.  My mojo just up and went.

The new art class I have been taking has really been a challenge.  

That is the bad news.  The good news is that I have learned so much.  I

just am having a hard time figuring out how to apply it.

This is probably 4 layers deep and might get buried this week.  I made myself a stencil of 

stripes and have enjoyed using it in the background.

When all else fails, i go back to an old familiar doodle.
I call it 'floral fiesta' because it reminds me of something I might see in Mexico.
It too is on top of 3 or 4 paintings.  Layers do make the background a bit more interesting.

My orchid this week is outrageous!  Guatamalensis is COVERED in blooms.
