Word of the year

Never quite finished this one

Part of my way of welcoming the New Year is to pick a
Word of the Year
That word replaces any resolutions but is in fact a sort of a resolution in itself.
For 2013 I selected "stretch."
I wanted to expand my mind, try new things, go different places,
just s-t-r-e-t-c-h.
I found that even on the wrong side of 70, I could welcome new experiences
and try new things with my word of the year in mind.
So this year?
Well 2014 isn't here yet but my front runner is
OPEN
Being of that certain age, it is important to keep your mind open to new ideas.
I want to open new doors in my life.
I want my eyes open to art inspiration
and my heart open to all.
As I write this, it is sounding like a resolution isn't it?
So be it.
My word of the year is also my inspiration when the
dreaded white sheet threatens me
So bring on 2014!
I think I'm ready.

Stretching is good. In body and in art. Love your work.

I like both words. I like how you can build on each word as the years go by. Staying open is always a good way to find out more about yourself and the world around you. I think you are on the right side of 70 :)

I'm thinking there is no 'wrong side of seventy'--

I love the idea of choosing a word for the year!

I confess that I had to stop and think what the 'wrong side' of 70 meant because your words and your work is so full of YOUTH! Very inspiring! Axxx

I love your tile! As for age, this year I turned "9 years from 50". That is what I say when asked - - I just don't say what side, :-)

I love your word choice from 2013 and your art. So pretty and colorful. I'm brand new to Zentangle, since just before Thanksgiving, so I enjoy looking at everyone else's work. It's helping me find my way. I also love your word choice for this year and the fun openness you used to represent it.

My word choice is CREATE. This is the third year I'm using the one word idea. I've loved it in the past and look forward to whatever this year brings. Best wishes to you for a wonderful new year!

Love your post! I reached the milestone of 70 this year, which is hard to believe, so I think I can understand how you feel, as I have those same thoughts. I say, "onward and upward - come what may." So happy to have Zentangle in my life to distract me when those worrisome thoughts emerge. Loved all the posted pieces and your choice of word for 2014. Happy New Year to you.
