The best thing about raising orchids is if you ignore them, they present you with gorgeous surprises.
Last year I had a thrips infestation so this year I am diligent about spraying them with
dishwashing soap and water or neem oil to keep the "nasties" away.
At this time of year I get wonderful surprises almost weekly.
One of the joys of being a Florida resident.
Finally got this matted. The original was the yellow and I added layers and layers, and layers of circle stencils. The foggy white layer was the last and seemed to pull it all together for me.
What do you think?
Awaiting inspiration! I have a vague idea about a dragonfly.
Happy PPF!
P.S. What a surprise! I wrote my blog, went to post it and there was my hummingbird...and I was writing about surprises. Thank you Kristin and Eva! and the random number generator.

Your circle piece is fantastic! Sorry about the nasties on the orchids, hope they go away! Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
Congrats on being featured this week!
Lovely art, Susan. Some surprises are good, like the hummingbird.
Congrats on being the featured artist on PPF! Your circle painting is cool, the white does tie it together. I can't wait to see what you pull out of your colorful background.
Happy PPF!
Your circle painting works very well with the layers you put on it. Like the other one too.
Happy PPF ☺
fine abstracts. A dragonfly? Why not :)
Oh yes, your circles definitely work! A very striking piece.
Lovely work, and gorgeous Iris!
A fantastic circle piece and that Iris is just beautiful!
Happy PPF!
Brilliant circle layers piece! Congrats on being featured at PPF this week. Happy weekend!
The hummingbird and fence is beautiful. The circle piece has come together well. I am glad the orchids are giving you a nice surprise this year.
The orchid is gorgeous... love your organic remedy...we use the same here in B.C. for aphids... The circles gained so much depth with the white...really beautiful...and I see an arm and hand reaching down in the last piece! Will be interesting to see your dragonfly!
Hugs Giggles
I love this post. The orchid, the art and the hummingbird, which means joy. Have a very lovely weekend.
Oh such gorgeous flowers, they are magical and your colours look blooming too, I wonder where they will go from here?
Love both pieces of art work here. They both speak to me of gardens and the circles in life!
The circles look great, and the white does bring it together beautifully. The colourful background looks so inviting to play with it!
And what gorgeous orchids! Last year was the first time I managed to not kill my orchids, and now I get so much delight from them flowering again and again and again.
All are lovely and eye-catching -- the circle piece looks especially great matted -- happy PPF!
