My background from last week.
I need your help here. I like the background, the table and the vase.
I DON'T like the funky spiral flowers.
What are your thoughts?
Should I make them solid?
Should I stamp on top of them?
I thought "funky" would work with the funky background but I just don't think it does
I knew I could get some ideas from you all.
One of my favorite orchids is just starting to bloom. It is a large plant,
maybe two feet in diameter, and is covered with buds.
This is just he beginning.
Wishing you all a Happy PPF

I love your funky flowers and the orchids, but think in your painting there should be something light at the bottom to balance the flowers. Happy PPF, hugs, Valerie
I kind of like the funky spiral flowers, the background is a stunner.
I love your background and vase. I can see what you mean about your funky flowers. Maybe the solid block of colour needs some pattern to break it up a little. I'm not clever or talented enough, so maybe other visitors will be more helpful to give you ideas and alternatives.
Happy PPF to you :D
Thanks Valerie. Those are the kinds of tips I am looking for.
Love the background....Maybe change the funky flowers to a fuchsia color so they don't jump out so much?
I always go with my first impressions and the way the flowers popped out was a great feel for me.
It's always so individual in choices isn't it ... a very beautiful creation and I love the background too.
Cheers now and Happy PPF!
love the spirals
Hmmmm. If it was my painting I'd tone down the flower color a bit but I think it's a super painting. Great background! Happy PPF-and please share if you change anything:)
I think the flowers work well as they are. :)
I don't dare give any suggestions :) YOU are to decide!
I think it depends on the direction you want to end up at. If it is funky, then you have reached your goal. I think this is acrylic paints and can be changed as whims hit you. I like the color of the flowers. They contrast nicely with that wonderful background.
Go back and read what Neesie said. I think that's what I was thinking but couldn't find words to put with the thoughts.
I think the spiral flowers are a bit too overwhelming right now. The beautiful background and vase disappear a bit because they are so prominent there. Not sure how to solve this. Maybe make it less opaque, or maybe stamp on top, and also let some parts of the flowers disappear behind a leaf.....
Thank you!
Your textured and collaged and stamped or whatever you have done with the background and vase are superb! I see what you mean, the spirals grab your eyes away from the other parts. I like the shapes of them, maybe as others have said, some marks along the edges and inside, maybe a warmer tinge of color along the edges to so that the bright cool yellow is not so predominate but still shows up?
The background is beautiful! I agree with others that maybe some stencils/stamps/mark making over the spirals would help. Would love to see this again if you make changes! Hope you had a nice weekend!
Thanks for your suggestions!
Going to work on it today! Thank you.
I love love love the background but I agree with the others... maybe start intuitively by changing the colour and see where it takes you!! Hope it works out for you!!
Hugs Giggles
I think they work the way they are. But if you really want to change it, you can add some marks in and around the yellow spirals in different olors.
I love the background. The spirals are funky. If you wanted more variation in the flowers, you could try making some fade into the background a little by darkening the colour, or stamping patterns, or softening the edges on a couple of them. Looking forward to seeing what you do.
