Summer cherries

Happy Paint Party Friday!!!

Is anyone else enjoying the delicious summer cherries?
Every year I anxiously await their arrival.
I eat them until I have a full and sore stomach.
It takes me back to my childhood in Southern California.
My Mom and I would go out to the orchards and do U-pick for five cents a pound.
We would pick and pick and eat and eat.
And then we would make a mad dash for home, both in desperate need of the bathroom.
So this is what is left of the two pounds my husband brought home yesterday.
I didn't demolish them alone, I had help from him.

The little fellow at the birdbath?
He visited a couple of weeks ago, thirsty for a drink in our 90 degree summer heat.

Hi Susan. Thanks for stopping by my PPF. Just popping in to say your bird at the birdbath is awesome as are your cherries. Nice gentle soft looking work. Thanks for sharing. Happy weekend and PPF!

Both your pages are beautiful, Susan. I just got a huge bag of cherries from Kroger. They are so good. My dh says it was 7#! I had no idea I had bought that many. We love them. And your bird getting a drink is wonderful. So serene. The weather here has been in the 100s, so 90s sounds pretty good. I just put out new sweetened water for the hummingbirds and they have been having battles for water rights all day.

PS Those look like cypress trees in your header. Are they?

Thank you for your kind words...happy to hear I am not the only one that pigs out on cherries. Yes, those are cypress trees at Saddlebrook Resort just north of Tampa.

Love those cherries, too! I really like your drawings/paintings. The little bird is not alone, I have had a chipmunk drinking, robins, bathing, butterflies dipping in the low puddle, and wasps just sitting there in the water. Everyone/thing thirsty! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Happy PPF

Love your cherries, very delicate. They are a distant memory as we are in winter here in NZ. But yesterday I saw a cherry tree with some pink bursting through, so roll on summer.

Oh, I love cherries - they taste best directly from the tree (I think). At our old house we had a cherry tree and it was such a joy to go out and pick the cherries straight from the tree and into the mouth. I'm planning to plant a cherry tree here at our new home - it is just too beautiful!

first off I am looking for the alligator in the banner photo, one must be there somewhere right?

And then I thought I had gotten to my friend, Cris, of Cris in Oregon's blog by mistake as your style of art is so close to what she does in her art journals. Especially the bird and bird bath. Yours is delightful and I hope you don't mind being compared to another very good artist.

I too ate a lot of cherries this weekend and they did their job! LOL
Yours are delightful and I love the highlights!

Funny you should ask. After i took this, here came two little gators and they swam around and entertained us for quite a while. It was the cypress trees that impressed me.
I am flattered to be compared to Chris. She is an animal lover too.
Thanks for visiting!

:) I saw cherries the other day in the middle of our winter, I was very tempted to slip some summer into the house, but the price scared me (I wish I could sound virtuous and say it was the food miles!).
