Blind String Challenge

Hello friends!  Thanks for visiting!
This week our challenge was to shut our eyes (and lose control)
and draw our string.
There is a string in here but I decided to fill in my negative space
for a change.
It definitely gives a different look.
What do you think?
Want to see more?

On a completely different subject (Scattered IS the name of this blog)
I took a couple of Joanne Sharpe classes this past weekend.
What fun!!!  And the classes were jam packed with ideas.
It was also weird (and nice) to finally get to meet some "faces" I had seen on line.
If Joanne is in your city, or even if she isn't, some gals drove four hours to come
to these classes, don't miss her.  She is an amazing teacher and a fun person to be around.

And our class

Acrylic Inks

This week I decided to do another picture using the rubber cement technique.
I sketched the orchids and then went over the lines with rubber cement, being careful
to seal each section so the paint couldn't run out.

I painted the orchids with a watercolor and acrylic ink combination.
Because the two stems at the bottom bothered me, I decided to use green for background at the base.

My initial watercolor green was too dull and had no texture.
Back to the acrylic ink.
I love the vivid results I get using the ink like watercolor.
I added a bit of orange to the orchids.
When you are happy with your results, you erase the rubber cement off with an
eraser made for just that.  It takes up the pencil lines as well.

What are your thoughts?

Earth Day Challenge

Challenge #113, boy that blows me away!

Today is Earth Day so we were each challenged to reflect on the meaning of the day to us.
Earth Day to me is a reminder of the importance of protecting/saving our planet.
My tile reflects a few basics, the mountains, the oceans/the plant life and the air that need our help.
It seems so simple.
But we ALL need to participate.
We can recycle.
We can refrain from leaving plastic trash on our beaches.
We can car pool.
We can move our thermostat on the heat down a couple of degrees
and move it up a couple of degrees on our air conditioner.
We need to be aware of climate change and it's impact on our globe.
So many simple things, done by everyone can make a big difference.

My feathered friends

One of the many things I love about being in Florida is the amazing
assortment of birds that visit our state during the year.
If you aren't a birdwatcher when you arrive here, you quickly become
one.  They are impossible to ignore.  Some for their size,
some for their "chatter", others for their color.
I decided to start adding some of these feathered friends to my sketch book,
and share them with you.  Happy PPF

Shoot for the stars

The challenge this week at I am the Diva
is to shoot for the stars.
This was fun and discovering the star within the star made it even
more enjoyable.

"Hip to be Square"

Recently I bought a book from the Goodwill Book Store for two reasons:
One, it sounded like it might be interesting and,
Two, because I liked the feel of the paper.
As it turned out, the book was a little too current and explicit for my tastes.
So, it became my doodle book.  When TV gets a little tedious, I whip out my book and doodle away, quite happily
We were challenged to use a square and because my book has lines and letters to use as guides, I
decided to use it for my square challenge.
What do you think???

A journaling sort of week

My first undertaking this week was to play with my gelli plate.
Whether using my finger or stencils, this is so much fun
and you end up with pile and piles of colored paper.

I know these will be cut up or used as
backgrounds in some future project.
The gelli plate is too much fun and some of
the results are a beautiful surprise!

I have made a concentrated effort to add some pages to my journals.

I always enjoy playing with words.  This is my second journal page with my "word of the year"
s-t-r-e-t-c-h as my subject

And last but not least, I decided to take part in a calendar challenge so this is my first entry.

So, does it sound like I am on steroids?
Well, I am.  My asthma showed up for the first time in two years
so a little prednisone should fix it.
In the meantime I am running on double time and could eat the paint off the walls
Ooooops, I almost forgot.
I have a book by the couch to scribble in while I watch whatever on TV.
This was last night
I thought my words made an interesting background
I think I am wearing myself out
Happy PPF!!!

Tuxedo

First of all, thank you LeAnne for your tangle.
Second of all, thanks to Zentangle, there are no mistakes in Zentangle.
I have been doodling around with tuxedo and thought I had what I wanted...
That is until I started the tile.  Then I thought of something different.
So one  and a half rows into my tile, my design changed.
I had fun with it and inspite of what you may see,
there are no mistakes on this tile!
