Earth Day Challenge

I have done very, VERY few mandalas in my tanglelife.  Actually, I can only remember one other.  I was wishing I had a compass when I discovered my apple corer...perfect!  I was off and running.  It took on a life of it's own.  Where does the butterfly fit in you ask???  I have no idea.  Perhaps it flew in and landed on my paper.  Whatever, I like it and this is my salute to Earth Day (aka Amanda Day).

This is really beautiful, and if anything were going to sit on the earth/amanda, it should surely be a butterfly!

Beautiful zendala and your butterfly is wonderful. What would the earth be without butterflies? Thanks for sharing!

hahaha! i don't care how your butterfly fits in - he's beautiful! i'm studying how you blended those colors - that's something i haven't figured out yet! and your zendala is excellent! i like the flowers around the edge - is that a specific pattern? do you know the name so i could look at it and see the steps? thanks!

I think the flowers are Florz by Sandy Batholomew in her book Totally Tangled. I used colored pencils on the butterfly, one layer on top of another. Thanks for visiting and for sharing your comment.

This is so beautiful. Though the thought of mansize butterflies ruling the world is kind of scary :-)

I have to try a mandala sometime. The butterfly really works together with it! Very nice! I made 3 journals out of recycled items (greeting cards, cereal boxes, etc..) for my earth day/week observation.
